We've previously talked about Centre d’action bénévole de la Vallée-du-Richelieu. Did you know that there are 109 volunteer action centers scattered throughout Quebec and overseen by the Fédération des centres d’action bénévole du Québec? Among these 109 centres is yet another one of our partners: Centre d'action bénévole de Saint-Hubert (or CAB for short) and it turned 50 in 2021. After its humble beginnings in the basement of a church, CAB now has a storefront on boulevard Grande Allée, a stone's throw from Taschereau Boulevard in Saint-Hubert.
There for the community
The first thing that strikes you when you visit CAB is the impressive number of services it offers, starting with Meals on Wheels, which offers fresh and frozen meals for different types of customers from the area. They also have a medical transportation service, a tax assistance service, and friendship visits to help the elderly feel less isolated. Not to mention their self-serve vegetable garden (available in summer) and their self-serve library. In terms of volunteering, CAB has a little bit of everything, from recruitment and coaching to training and more. Like most other centres, its services are geared towards volunteers working with other organizations.
Of course, there is also our low-cost eyewear service for Saint-Hubert and the South Shore. We are there every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.. To save on glasses, just have your prescription ready and make an appointment by calling 450-656-9110.
Wishing CAB a very happy birthday, our long-time partner making a HUGE difference in the lives of Saint-Hubert residents! Learn more here!
